01Who we are
MyDubaiWill ("we", "us") is the controller of the personal data described in this policy. You can reach us at support@mydubaiwill.com or +971 50 123 4567, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Where a document is registered with the DIFC Wills Service Centre or ADGM Courts, those free zones apply their own data protection rules (the DIFC Data Protection Law No. 5 of 2020 and the ADGM Data Protection Regulations 2021). We follow those rules for the data they cover.
02Personal data we collect
Depending on the service you use, we collect:
- Identity data: full name, nationality, date of birth, and Emirates ID or passport details.
- Contact data: email address, phone number and residential address.
- Document data: the information you give our AI interview, including details of beneficiaries, guardians, executors, attorneys and assets.
- Account data: login credentials (stored hashed), preferences and consent records.
- Payment data: handled by our payment processor. We receive confirmation of payment, not full card numbers.
- Technical data: IP address, device and browser type, and pages visited, collected through essential cookies and server logs.
03Data about other people
Wills and powers of attorney name other people, such as beneficiaries, guardians and attorneys. By providing their details you confirm that you are entitled to share them for the purpose of preparing your document. We use that information only to prepare, review and deliver your document.
04How and why we use your data
We process personal data only where the PDPL allows it, in particular:
- With your consent, which you give when you create an account and which you can withdraw at any time.
- To perform our contract with you: drafting, lawyer review and delivery of your documents.
- To comply with legal obligations, including record-keeping and requests from competent UAE authorities.
- To protect the security and integrity of our platform and prevent fraud.
05AI processing and lawyer review
Our AI assistant uses your answers to generate a first draft. Every draft is then reviewed by a licensed UAE lawyer before it is released to you. No legally significant decision about you is made by automated processing alone.
We do not use the contents of your documents to train general-purpose AI models.
07Cross-border transfers
We store data in the UAE wherever possible. If data must be transferred outside the UAE, we do so only to countries with adequate protection, or under safeguards permitted by the PDPL, such as contractual commitments.
08How long we keep data
We keep your account and documents for as long as your account is active, and afterwards for as long as needed to meet legal, regulatory and professional record-keeping obligations. Data we no longer need is securely deleted or anonymised.
09How we protect your data
Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access is limited to staff and lawyers who need it for your matter, protected by role-based permissions and logged. We test and review these controls regularly.
10Your rights
Under the PDPL you can ask us to:
- Give you access to the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct data that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Delete data that we no longer have a lawful reason to keep.
- Restrict or stop certain processing, including processing for direct marketing.
- Provide your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Withdraw your consent, without affecting processing that has already taken place.
11Exercising your rights and complaints
Email support@mydubaiwill.com to make a request. We may need to verify your identity first. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the UAE Data Office.
13Changes to this policy
We will post any update on this page and change the "last updated" date. If a change materially affects how we use your data, we will notify you by email or in your account.
